Welcome to Casco Township

There is upcoming maintenance work and natural flaring activity in our Consumers Energy natural gas storage fields (Hessen 109 gas storage well asset) in Casco Township. The location is 42.800361, -82.654248(Closest intersection is Fred Moore Hwy @ Hessen Rd and the job site is visible from Hessen Rd).

During this routine maintenance work, some pressurized natural gas will rise from the open wells. To ensure the safety of nearby neighbors, our workers and the environment, this excess natural gas will be burned off in a controlled manner. This is called flaring, which you may see or hear anywhere within the surrounding area of the job site. Flaring is a safe, common industry practice and is continuously monitored. 

This work will begin tomorrow, Tuesday August 15after 8:00am and will last for a few hours. Flaring activities will not extend after dark.

Emergency officials have been notified of the activity. As always, please call Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050 with any natural gas concerns.

We have been advised of a remodel at First State Bank, Richmond which will close the lobby in late August thru early September. The drive thru will be available but you may experience delays to drop off your payment.
The treasurers office is open Monday thru Thursday 9am-3:30pm, we have a drop box available after hours. You can mail your payment to Casco Township Office. Or drop your payment of at FreeStar Credit Union, Richmond.
